On September 8, 2026, Liu Weidong, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, met with a delegation led by Jessica Gallagher, Vice President of the University of Adelaide, Australia. Yin Shan, Vice Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology, attended the meeting and shared cooperation proposals on behalf of the School.

Vice President Liu Weidong reviewed the comprehensive cooperation between the two universities across engineering, agriculture, medicine, and design, and expressed his expectation to further expand joint training and research collaboration. Vice President Gallagher spoke highly of the outcomes of the partnership, noting that the University of Adelaide is reshaping its partnerships with a new philosophy and striving to further enhance its impact in teaching, research, and social services. During the meeting, both sides agreed to establish a joint consultative committee between the two universities.

Vice Dean Yin Shan shared the history of cooperation between the School of Agriculture and Biology and the University of Adelaide in agricultural research and student training. He proposed, based on the solid foundation of cooperation between the two universities' agriculture-related schools, to advance the renewal of the joint master's dual degree program and to further expand cooperation into undergraduate education and multiple disciplines. He also noted that the School will continue to contribute to the joint consultative committee and support diversified cooperation between the two universities. Vice President Gallagher responded that the two sides have already demonstrated broad potential for cooperation in agriculture and sustainable development, and expressed her expectation to deepen collaboration with more pioneering thinking in the future.

The School looks forward to taking this university-level meeting as a new starting point, leveraging the relevant mechanisms of university-level cooperation to advance collaboration with the University of Adelaide's agriculture-related disciplines from individual projects toward comprehensive synergy, and to pursue in-depth international cooperation in agriculture, food, and ecology.
