In the long-term educational practice, the School has attracted and cultivated a number of outstanding talents through the introduction and development of faculty, forming an innovative, vibrant, and internationally competitive teaching team. Currently, the School has 311 faculty and staff members, including 195 full-time teachers. It boasts 9 national-level high-level talents, 16 national-level young talents, 7 position scientists of the National Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System, 20 recipients of the Shanghai Magnolia Program, and more than 40 recipients of other provincial and ministerial-level high-level talent titles. In recent years, the School has recruited 2 Chair Professors, 12 Distinguished Professors, 14 Tenured Professors and Tenured Researchers, as well as 42 Tenured Associate Professors and Tenure-Track Associate Professors.

To enhance the teaching quality, theoretical research capabilities, and technological innovation capacity of the faculty, lay a solid foundation for the School’s new round of rapid development, and in accordance with the relevant guidelines of the university as well as the School’s new round of reforms, the School has actively and steadily promoted the implementation of classified management of faculty positions. It aims to build two agricultural teams with "top-tier research capabilities" and "down-to-earth application orientation": one team focuses on basic and applied basic research in agriculture, providing knowledge and technological reserves for agricultural science and technology innovation; the other team, relying on the Institute of New Rural Development, concentrates on the transformation and extension of agricultural scientific research achievements, contributing to the conversion of agricultural technologies into real productive forces. While rationally classifying the existing faculty, the School will further strengthen the introduction of high-level talents, continuously improve the overall quality of the faculty, and promote the sustainable development of the School’s undertakings.
